In Qatar, an access road to an agricultural site was constructed with RoadCem. The client chose a pavement construction with RoadCem due to the high quality standard, economic profit, and ecological advantage.

Qatar is known for its hot climate, especially in the summer, wherein the temperature is very high. The soil in Qatar is mainly sandy or clayey soil. Typical for the chemical composition of this soil is that it has a high amount of calcium. This leads to very hard soil when the soil is dry, but also very weak in wet conditions.

In the past, many products were used to stabilise this type of soil. No other stabilisation agents have been successful in pavement construction! Either wide cracks occurred or the surface of the stabilisation started to erode. Therefore, traditional road pavement constructions were built.

However, the traditional construction leads to a thick asphalt layer. The asphalt surface has a relatively short lifetime due to the hot climate (rutting) and high UV index (raffling of the asphalt surface layer).

By using RoadCem it is possible to bind the Qatar soil under the typical climate conditions. The temperature was +40 degrees Celsius.

By using RoadCem, it was also possible to use salt water instead of the expensive tap water.

The RoadCem stabilisation must be able to bear the load of 10 trucks a day. The thickness of the RoadCem stabilisation is 0.20 m. This thickness is enough to achieve a structural lifetime of 20 years.

The RoadCem stabilization is constructed in 24 hours and is used 48 hours later.
